We Stand for Kids provides resources, services and supports to equip each child for the journey of life. The staff and volunteers of We Stand for Kids view this program not as an organization but a family unit. Our actions, programming and time demand that each child be a success story and failure is not and will never be an option. Most importantly the program teaches responsibility for others.

It feels like an eternity when your dad is in prison. It's hard for my mother to take care of us and have no daddy figure. I heard about We Stand for Kids through a friend...I began attending events sponsored by the groups last summer and stayed on. My relationship with my mentor is special because he is like the big brother I never had. Like the dad I never had. When we do something wrong, he wants us to be a man and tell him. He's always trying to tell us to go college.

I think We Stand for Kids is a great program because it gives kids the support they need when it comes to anything like school and also things outside of school. If you need help with homework they will help you with that and if you need a role model they will get you a mentor also. That's why We Stand for Kids is great.

I have proudly served as a mentor for "We Stand For Kids" since 2007 to two young ladies who currently have a parent incarcerated. I absolutely love children but I especially want to be able to make a difference to young children who are potentially as risk for teen pregnancy, drugs or possible gang related activities. That is what "We Stand For Kids" represent to the community…they offer programs to keep kids engaged in productive activities so that they do not find themselves getting into trouble.
