We Stand for Kids
Kids of incarcerated parents

Welcome to We Stand For Kids

children of prisoners

Providing youth of incarcerated parents with caring adults allows We Stand For Kids the platform to build bridges between children of prisoners, adult volunteers and essential community resources.  Our goal is to utilize the community to break the cycle of incarceration.

We Stand For Kids was founded in 2002 as a community based, 501 c 3 non profit organization located in Anderson, South Carolina. Our mission is to provide children with incarcerated parents with one-on-one mentoring. We have been funded by the Administration for Children and Families division of Health and Human Services. Youth are referred to our organization by Mental Health Services, Department of Social Services, school counselors, parents/caregivers and healthcare providers.

An average of 2.3 million children are affected each year and left behind when parents are incarcerated with feelings of fear, sadness, anger, guilt, low self-esteem among many other emotions. As caring adults we provide opportunities to belong and to succeed through education, recreation and social behavior.
